Senior Project Officer, School Leadership

This position provides coordination, management, policy advice and delivery of AITSL projects within the School Leadership team aimed to promote quality school leadership.  The focus of the team’s work is on the supporting preparation and ongoing development of school leaders. The Senior Project Officer will have responsibility for:

Project Management

  • Design and scope project briefs and plans in consultation with the Manager of School Leadership and other team members.
  • Lead project team organisation, management of project delivery, resources and budgets, ongoing project monitoring and review, project closure and maintenance of project documentation.
  • Contribute to strategic business planning, including managing procurement, and implementing sound contract management practices.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders, such as contractors, steering groups and external education bodies, demonstrating a sound understanding of the collaborative and responsive environment in which the organisation operates.

Policy and Analysis

  • Provide high level policy advice and guidance to Managers and the Executive, making policy connections and proposing options and solutions, with particular emphasis on issues involving school leadership, in a complex national environment.
  • Maintain an up-to-date awareness and understanding about current educational research and key thinkers, particularly around school leadership issues.

Communication and Stakeholder Management

  • Utilise a range of communication and stakeholder engagement strategies to develop a range of understandings and insights, and facilitate diffusion and dissemination of the work of the School Leadership team.
  • Develop complex written reports, meeting papers and web content, and prepare and deliver engaging presentations for conferences and seminars.
  • Manage external relationships and steering committees with school leadership stakeholders, providers and professional associations, and represent AITSL at a range of external forums to promote its objectives and work.
  • Undertake other duties as directed by the Manager and consistent with the employee’s skills and competence.

Project Officer, Research and Evaluation

To be successful in this position you will excel in the coordination and delivery of research and evaluation projects through data collection, coordination, and management and the analysis and interpretation of data to understand policy and practice implications.

The Project Officer will have responsibility for:

Research, Policy and Analysis

  • Design and manage research, collect, analyse and synthesise data.
  • Manage data bases, undertake univariate, inferential (and potentially multivariate) statistical analysis and assess and interpret data and data analysis for sound evidence based policy and practice implications.
  • Understand and undertake the triangulation of quantitative and qualitative data to inform sound evidence based policy and practice implications.
  • Prepare briefings, correspondence, reports, memos, recommendations, publications, speeches and presentations for meetings, web content, conferences and seminars as required.
  • Provide policy support and advice to Managers, making policy and research connections and proposing options and solutions, with particular emphasis on issues related to AITSL’s remit.
  • Remain up to date with education research and evidence, collate and summarise education evidence and data and its implications for stakeholders.

Project Management

  • Scope project briefs in consultation with the Manager and team members.
  • Undertake project activity planning, management of project delivery, ongoing project monitoring, and review and maintenance of project records and online learning environments.
  • Support budget and resource management for the work areas.

Representation

  • Represent AITSL at external forums and promote its objectives and work.
  • Foster external relationships with steering committees, stakeholders, providers and professional associations.
  • Undertake other duties as directed by the Manager and consistent within the employee’s skills and competence.
