+ Exporting and backing up artefacts

Do I need to back up my artefacts?
Yes. It is highly recommended that you export your artefacts on a regular basis as artefacts are not stored by AITSL.

To ensure your privacy AITSL does not store any images, videos, audio or documents on the My Standards database. The My Standards database only stores text based data such as the artefact title, Standards, annotations, notes and tags and a pathway to any exported images, videos, audio and documents which allows you to access your artefacts on another device. The storing of this pathway does not allow AITSL to access the content.

Exporting your artefacts to a cloud location or via email will allow you to delete artefacts from your device and free up storage space.

How do I export my artefacts?
To email or export an artefact you can:
- open the artefact and select Save, then Save and Export and select one of the four options and follow the prompts, or
- click on the cloud symbol next to the artefact title and select one of the four options and follow the prompts.

Can I email or export multiple artefacts at the same time?
Yes. To email or export multiple artefacts at the same time select Artefacts from the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. Choose Select and click on the artefact/s you wish to email or export. Next select Export and choose email or one of the cloud storage options and follow the prompts.

+ Transitioning my artefacts to the latest version

My Standards has had some significant improvements made to enhance the user experience.

As a result there are some important actions to take to have full access to previously created artefacts.

Transitioning artefacts

Open the new My Standards app, login and locate your artefacts. Open each artefact and reattach the evidence, then select Save. Do this for all artefacts you wish to keep. This action is required only once per artefact.

If any of your version 1 artefacts are not appearing in version 2, open the previous version of My Standards on your device and capture a screen shot of those artefacts only accessible in version 1. Capture both the annotations and Standards screen for each artefact.

Next open the new version of My Standards and create an artefact attaching your screen shots as evidence.

Deleting My Standards version 1

Once you have downloaded My Standards version 2 we highly recommend that you delete version 1 from your device as it will no longer be supported.

Need help creating artefacts?

Creating an artefact allows you to quickly capture and organise evidence of your teaching practice.

  • Have a great photo of your classroom set up?
  • Want to collect audio of you providing feedback to a student or colleague?
  • Looking to take a short video of your teaching practice?
  • Have a weblink to an interesting article you’ve read and want to record your reflections?

These are just a few examples of evidence that you may collect using the My Standards app. Not only can you collect evidence but you can map your evidence to the Standards and reflect on your practice by adding annotations. Your artefacts could be used for professional conversations, career development or self-reflection.

Want more details on how to create an artefact, view the Artefacts section above.
