What is My Induction?
My Induction is a free mobile app to support beginning teachers in the first years of their career. My Induction provides access to curated resources across a range of topics relevant to beginning teachers. Other features include a question bank where beginning teachers can seek advice from nationally certified Highly Accomplished and Lead teachers (HALTs); and a Tracker that will help beginning teachers monitor their professional self-efficacy, enthusiasm, professional support and perceived stress.
Q2 Why do I need to register and set up a profile before using My Induction?
Your My Induction account is separate from your AITSL account. You will need to register to use My Induction, even if you have already registered on the AITSL website.
Registering and setting up login details ensures that you can:
• save your Tracker data to monitor changes in your professional self-efficacy, enthusiasm, professional support and perceived stress over time
• use My Induction over multiple devices without losing data
• save your responses to challenges and scenarios
• add resources to your favourites list
• access content that has been customised for your phase of schooling and/or employment status.
AITSL recommends that teachers use a range of resources to inform these processes. If there is a discrepancy between different pieces of evidence collected, it may be advisable to reflect on the Standards directly and to discuss this with a colleague or line manager.
How will My Induction help me move from provisional to full registration / accreditation?
Resources in My Induction are mapped to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. As applications for full registration / accreditation must be Standards-referenced, these resources will assist you to meet the requirements of registration / accreditation by targeting specific focus areas of the Standards.

Are the quizzes, scenarios and challenges monitored by AITSL? Will they impact my registration / accreditation?
Quizzes, scenarios and challenges are not monitored by AITSL or jurisdictional employing authorities. They will not impact applications for full registration / accreditation. They are intended as support for professional growth only.
Q5 How can I use My Induction with my mentor or school leader?
You may wish to use the resources available in My Induction to inform conversations about improving practice with your mentor or school leader. Quizzes, scenarios and challenges may form the basis of more personalised development conversations.
You can share My Induction content including articles, videos, quizzes, scenarios and challenges (content and responses) via e-mail.
You might also consider discussing your Tracker data with your mentor or school leader as part of wellbeing conversations.
Q6 As a mentor, how can I use My Induction?
As part of your program to support mentees, you may wish to recommend they download My Induction, and also explore the resources yourself. These resources may provide stimulus for professional discussions to support the development of your mentees.
You may also wish to discuss the elements of your mentees’ experiences monitored in the Tracker: their professional self-efficacy, enthusiasm, professional support and perceived stress.
Although My Induction is a useful supporting resource for beginning teachers, it is not a replacement for professional mentoring and support.
Q7 How does the Tracker work?
The Tracker uses a set of validated questions to determine your professional self-efficacy, enthusiasm, professional support and perceived stress. The scales and interpretation are derived from other scales supported by robust evidence and research.
The Tracker saves your responses each time you use it so you can monitor and reflect on changes over time. It will also suggest resources that might be useful to you, based on your results after each check in.
Although the Tracker can provide an indication of your experience across the four measures, it is not a replacement for professional help. If you are feeling troubled in your professional or personal life, please seek qualified assistance via your Employee Assistance Program or https://www.beyondblue.org.au/.
Q8 Will my Tracker data be shared?
Your Tracker data remains private and will not be shared with anyone. It may be used by AITSL in an aggregated, de-identified format to help us improve the induction of beginning teachers.
If you’re comfortable, you may wish to discuss your Tracker data with your mentor.
Q9 What is the Question Bank?
The Question Bank is a library of commonly asked, high impact questions, with responses aimed at supporting beginning teachers. Questions were sourced from the profession and responses have been provided by nationally certified Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers (HALTs) who draw on a wealth of teaching expertise.
Q10 When will a question I submit to the Question Bank be answered?
Questions submitted to the Question Bank are collected over time. At AITSL’s discretion, selected questions will be provided to members of the HALT network for responses. The Question Bank will periodically be updated with new questions and responses.
Q11 Who are HALTs?
HALTs are nationally certified Highly Accomplished and Lead teachers. Certification is available in most jurisdictions across Australia, and recognises high levels of expertise as articulated in the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. HALTs will be regularly consulted to provide responses to items in the Question Bank.

Q12 What is the downloadable calendar?
The downloadable calendar will add helpful reminders to your online calendar (eg Apple, Outlook or Google). You can customise these reminders in your own calendar i.e. move a reminder to a date that suits your requirements.
You will receive calendar notifications throughout the year to help you with your professional growth, applying for registration/accreditation and induction overall.
Q13 What platforms is My Induction available on?
My Induction is available for use on mobile devices (tablets and smartphones) using Android and Apple operating systems. It is not available on desktop.
Q14 How can I share content?
You can use the share icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen to share articles, videos, quizzes, scenarios and challenges (content and responses) via e-mail. Articles and videos may also be shared via your social media channels.
Q15 Can I use My Induction offline?
Once you have logged in to My Induction, most functionality will be available offline. However, content will not be updated until you have an active Internet connection.
