Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher Summit

Summit 2016

Adelaide, South Australia 11 & 12 March 2016

The inaugural Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) Summit brought together for the first time, nationally certified teachers from across Australia. The Summit also marked the launch of the newly established HALT Network which will focus on promoting quality teaching across Australia to improve student outcomes.

At the Summit, the Minister for Education and Training the Hon Simon Birmingham formally launched the HALT Network and participants heard provocations from leading educational thinkers Professor John Hattie and Dr Yong Zhao, and behavior change guru Dominic Thurbon.

Across the two days, participants put their collective expertise to action by sharing practice from their own context, and working on action plans with Professor John Hattie and Dr Yong Zhao.

"The answer to better teaching doesn't exist in Shanghai, Finland or Singapore... it's here in this room." Professor John Hattie
