Stakeholder survey results 2021 infographic
2,592 stakeholders from across Australia responded to our survey. The majority of stakeholders were teachers and school leaders and more than half were from New South Wales and Victoria. Two thirds of respondents were from a major city and more than four in five worked in a school or early childhood setting. Two thirds of those worked in a government school while the remainder were evenly split between Catholic and independent schools. 86% of stakeholders were very or fairly familiar with AITSL. Awareness was highest among school leaders and pre-service teachers, and was broadly consistent across all states and territories. 89% of stakeholders had visited the website in the past 12 months, while 82% had read AITSL Mail and 78% had used AITSL tools or resources. Approximately one quarter of stakeholders had engaged with AITSL via social media, with LinkedIn being the most popular platform. Stakeholders were likely to engage with AITSL in the next 12 months (7.2 on a 10-point scale). Pre-service teachers, school leaders and other influences felt most satisfied with AITSL’s promotion of excellent in the profession. Almost all stakeholders were aware of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. Approximately three quarters were aware of Graduate to Proficient: Australian guidelines for teacher induction into the profession, the Australian Teacher Performance and Development Framework, and the Certification of Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers. Out of all AITSL’s tools and resources, stakeholders rated the Australian Professional Standard for Principals and the Leadership profiles and Leading for Impact highest in terms of their benefit to education in Australia. Stakeholders rated AITSL’s teacher-specific tools and resources 7.6 out of 10 and school leader-specific tools and resources 7.3 out of 10. The Teacher Self-Assessment Tool has the highest rate of awareness and use among teachers and the 360° Reflection tool had the highest rate of awareness and use among school leaders.
