These interactive and self-directed modules guide users through the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (the Standards), effective approaches to professional development and ways to demonstrate proficiency against the Standards.

The modules are relevant to:

  • All teachers, from early childhood to secondary school.
  • All leaders who support the professional growth of teachers.

Intended learning outcomes

The modules aim to enhance teachers’ and leaders’ knowledge, understanding and application of the Standards to enable growth-focused evaluations of practice, as well as support improved teaching effectiveness for greater impact on learners.

MODULE 1

Understand the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (the Standards)

Description

Module 1 unpacks the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (the Standards). These modules aim to strengthen your understanding and application of the Teacher Standards so you can evaluate practice for professional growth.

Understand effective approaches to professional development

Description

Module 2 unpacks national performance and development frameworks. These modules aim to strengthen your understanding and application of high-quality professional learning approaches, to enable you to evaluate practice for professional growth and nurture a nationwide, high-achieving and vibrant professional learning culture.

  • Leaders (including middle leaders) and professional learning coordinators

MODULE 3

Applying the development cycle to demonstrate proficiency against the Standards

Description

Module 3 guides you to apply the essential elements contained within the Performance and Development Cycle. The modules guide teachers to better demonstrate proficiency against the Standards and empower leaders/mentors to better support staff development.
