It’s hard to believe it was only a month ago that I was wishing everyone a safe and relaxing festive season, and now here we are in 2023 with a new school year underway.
To those of you who are starting your teaching career or perhaps a leadership role this year, congratulations! You have chosen a profession where you’ll make a difference, every day, in the lives of children and young people – the engine room
of Australia’s future.
It’s important that beginning teachers can be impactful from day one and are well prepared to take on responsibility for the learning of their students – AITSL is here to help as you grow in your new roles. For our new leaders, we have resources
and tools to help you succeed as you take on a new challenge.
To our returning teachers and principals, welcome back – we look forward to continuing to champion your work throughout 2023. We know quality teaching has the biggest in-school impact on student learning, and that you are readying yourselves for
another busy year ahead, all the while maximising impact on students.
So, Let’s Go 2023! Our website has a wealth of evidence-based tools and resources designed to support you throughout your teaching career. To make things a little easier at the start of the new school year, I encourage you to check out this curated page highlighting some of our top resources to get you going.
From a broader perspective, work on the National Teacher Workforce Action Plan is set to commence this year.
I believe we will start to see positive impacts for the profession as this work gets underway next month, with contributors to this work, including AITSL, striving to bring improvements through the Action Plan’s areas of focus.
AITSL looks forward to continuing to work with teachers and leaders across Australia to ensure our nation’s learners have access to quality teaching and leadership, and that our teachers have everything they need to support their professional learning,
growth and impact.
