The Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) is delighted to confirm the appointment of Tim Bullard as its new CEO.
He has been appointed for a period of 5 years, commencing 21 October 2024.
Tim will join AITSL from the Department for Education, Children and Young People in Tasmania, where he is currently the Secretary.
Having recently been an AITSL Board member, Tim is very familiar with the company and its operations.
For the past 2 decades, Tim has worked across the Tasmanian Government in key policy roles for the Department of Premier and Cabinet, and the Department of Education. In March 2018, he was appointed Secretary of the Department of Education and has since
been appointed as Secretary of the Department for Education, Children and Young People, leading the Department’s commitment to support all children and young people to have bright lives and positive futures.
AITSL Board Chair Dr Michele Bruniges AM believes Tim’s depth of experience from leading Tasmania’s education system provides the perfect mix of expertise, knowledge, and leadership required to ensure AITSL’s ongoing success.
“Tim’s focus is clearly on achieving greater outcomes for students by supporting quality teaching and school leadership across the board. He will bring significant policy and government experience to AITSL, supporting teachers and school leaders to help them meet professional standards and ensure students thrive.”
“Undoubtedly, Tim will hit the ground running and continue to grow and nurture AITSL’s excellent relationships with key stakeholders across the nation including the federal government, state and territory governments, education systems and
sectors, and others.”
“My gratitude and thanks go to our Deputy CEO Edmund Misson who has been acting as CEO since January this year, leading our important work at an incredibly busy time.”
Incoming AITSL CEO, Tim Bullard, is excited about the opportunity to take on a national view of education.
“It is a privilege to have the opportunity to lead such a trusted company with such an exceptional reputation. I look forward to working with the AITSL Board and team to progress the important national work to empower teachers and school leaders
to have the maximum impact on the learning of Australia’s students.”
